Emmanuel Morehari

KEREMA Rugby League president Emmanuel Morehari has passed away last Wednesday at the Port Moresby General Hospital after short illness.
Morehari was in Port Moresby preparing to attend the recent PNG Rugby Football League annual general meeting held in Lae over the weekend.
Before his passing, Morehari nominated Jacob Ivaroa as a nominee for the PNGRFL Southern Confederate director’s role.
Ivaroa eventually defeated incumbent Gwaibo Mairi during the election in Lae, while Morehari was at the Funeral Home in Port Moresby.
The Southern confederate extended their deepest condolence to the immediate family and relatives of the untimely passing of Morehari, 45 from Hevola village in Moveave, Gulf.
Morehari’s wealth of experience and effort transformed Kerema Rugby League, bringing players to compete in the Southern Confederation championships and trials in the National Capital District and Central.
Morehari, also Kerema Urban’s ward 5 councilor, introduced a women’s competition in 2019 for an inclusive competition.
He actively steered and managed his local league and continued to develop young players under his leadership.
He is survived by wife Marie, sons Emmanuel Jr, Joe and daughter Diana.
