THE Kokopo district administration has given vehicles to various sectors and local level governments to assist officers in serving the people.

Acting district administrator Ekonia Walom said during the dedication of the district public service on Sunday at Bitavavar that the vehicles were bought through the K3 million allocation from the K10 million district improvement initiative programme for the year.

A vehicle each was given to the Duke of York Island and Bitapaka local level governments.

Two vehicles were given to the district administration – one for the road supervisor and the other for the district administrator.

Two 10-seater vehicles will be given to police to cater for the Bitapaka police post and Kokopo police station.

Included in the fleet is a motor bike for the TB section of the provincial health office at Butuwin.

A compactor will help in the collection of garbage.

It will be stationed at the Kokopo Vunamami urban council.
