Kokopo tourism expo gets backing from BSP

MORE than 30 representatives of the tourism industry will converge on Kokopo, East New Britain, to participate in the Lukim PNG Nau Tourism Expo from Sept 23-25.
This is being facilitated by the PNG Tourism Industry Association (PNGTIA), which was recently supported with a K25,000 sponsorship from Bank South Pacific to host the expo.
The association’s executive manager, Christine Peipul, said the event would not only feature PNG tourism industry members but also overseas representatives.
“We are very grateful for BSP’s support to this annual event that unites the entire tourism industry,” she said.
The events will consist of workshops from Sept 20-21 followed by the Lukim PNG Nau Expo from Sept 23-25. The Lukim PNG Nau Tourism Expo aims to:

  • Bring together all tourism operators in one location;
  • Showcase a wide range of tourism products and services;
  • Invite international agents to enhance and establish business relations; and,
  • Educate the domestic trade and audiences on tourism products and services.

In presenting the money, BSP deputy general manager – sales and customer service s – Natasha Sirimai said the bank was happy to support this event to showcase Papua New Guinea tourism. She said it would also be an ideal time to assist tourism industry members hold workshops through BSP’s financial literacy of its small medium-sized enterprises and other products which participants needed information of.
“The BSP Kokopo team will also be available at the BSP booth from Sept 23-25 to help other customers and be part of the domestic and international trade days,” Sirimai said.
