Korobuks are the 2015 champions of the Health Department-sponsored snooker competition at Manu Autoport in Port Moresby after defeating archrivals Kave Taurama Maleos 3 frames to one in the grand final at the weekend.

Going into the finals as favorites after rounding the 15-round competition, they were pushed to the limits by the Maleos in an exciting finale.

In the first singles game, David Warpuai had to fight back against a determined Joe Eksy to take out the first singles game.

In the doubles frame, captain Dr Tiotam Warpuai combined well with son Hans against Patrick Kave and Eksy to win by a clear two frames to nil.

In the final singles and double game, Paiks Tade kept Maleos in the game by beating Albert Kave to bring the scores two frames to one in favour of Korobuks.

The last doubles game saw Karoho Tom combining with Steven Lapua against Alex Walei and Ray Johns in a do-or-die encounter.

In the end, the Korobuks duo had the last laugh, sealing the final frame 3-1 to win.

During the presentation, coordinator Beven Orari acknowledged the sponsors that came on board to support the competition and said it would be bigger and better next year.
