LAE Bombers have been given a new lease of life when Lae Biscuit Company took over the naming rights from major sponsor Australian Trade Centre Ltd after struggling for the past two seasons.
Despite having ATCL as its major sponsor for two years, securing funds for much-needed facelift and bringing the team to the next level has been a let down and with board member Russ Kaupa on the helm, he has tried all his best to push the team forward despite financial hardship.
Kaupa, who is also the  Lae rugby league president, has been using his resources at the league’s support to push for the team to complete the season.
Now with Lae Biscuit Company, coming on board, the struggle may be a thing of the past.
In an interview, chief executive officer of Lae rugby league David Atua confirmed the sponsorship deal by the Lae-based company.
Atua also confirmed that a proper announcement by the company would be made at a later date.
The sponsorship will also revive the home of the current Lae league champions, the Kamkumung Crushers when the abandoned sports oval will be upgraded thanks to the local biscuit maker, for its commitment in reviving the playing field.
Managing director of LBC Sir Henry Chow made this announcement following his company’s commitment as the Bombers’ major sponsor for next year’s intercity rugby league season.
