THE Consort Express Lines female employees in Lae, initiated a “Pink Ribbon” walk on Sunday to remember women affected by breast cancer and for awareness.

Consort’s Phyonna Silikara said their programme included an early morning walk from the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium with more than 80 participants, a prayer for remembrance and then breakfast and raffles.

The walk included women from other companies like East-West, Laga Industries, Agility, KK Kingston, YWCA and family members of the staff.

“We do not do any public events commemorating the cause and most are behind enclosures.

“The walk enabled us to play our part and bring awareness to the disease in a small expression of unity,” Silikara said.

More than K460 was raised and donated to breast cancer patients at the Angau Memorial Hospital on Monday.

Anderson Foodland donated trays of meat and Laga Industries donated hampers for the raffle.
