PAPUA New Guinea playmaker Lachlan Lam says he is hopeful of playing for the Kumuls alongside his younger brother and Wigan Warriors academy player Bailey Lam.
The Roosters halfback and son of Kumuls legend Adrian Lam told The National from Sydney, Australia, yesterday it was his dream to play alongside his brother at international level.
“I would love to play alongside Bailey for the Kumuls one day as it would make our family proud,” said the 22-year old, who played for PNG at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.
“It is something I have not done yet apart from touch football.”
Lam’s 18-year-old brother joined the English Super League club’s academy at the start of the year.
Their father is the head coach of the 2018 Super League premiers.
Lam, who scored a double in his international debut in the Kumuls’ 64-0 win over the United States in the 2017 World Cup, said he would be available for PNG for the end-of-year tests and next year’s global showpiece event in England.
“I will be available for any game for Papua New Guinea as it’s something I am always passionate about,” he said.
“My goal now is to represent PNG at the World Cup and help take our nation go as far as possible in the tournament.”
