Lands department official slack

Letters

I have been going to the Department of Lands and Physical Planning’s Waigani office on a regular basis for the past six months and I am appalled at the poor performance of some staff.
I have written so many letters to a certain senior officer about my land issues and I am still waiting for his responses. It’s almost four months. I have turned up every Tuesday and Thursday (client days) hoping for a result but have come away empty handed.
To make matters worse, the senior officer’s personal assistant misses work at least once or twice a week.
At times, when I ask for an appointment, the personal assistant will say: “Let’s wait for his (senior officer) response, and check up after two weeks.”
The officer’s performance is poor and he’s frustrating ordinary people needing someone to attend to their problem.
The Lands Department is an important office and people go there every day with their land problems.
It is only fair and right for the staff to properly and timely attend to those queries.
I am disappointed that I have spent a lot of money and time going to the lands office and no one has been able to help me.
