League coach calls for more support in training

A RUGBY league coach in Goroka has called for more support in the training of coaches to improve the game in the country.
John Kera, coach for the CPL Norths women’s team in the Goroka Rugby League, said the style of the game was rapidly changing and it was up to coaches to deliver a new approach if they were properly trained.
“Rugby league will continue to grow and if we can adapt to the way things have changed in the sport, we can be just as competitive with other countries,” he told The National.
“You take a young child from the village and teach him the right things about his role as an individual and within the team, then this child will be capable of looking at the game differently.
“But this will depend on whether or not the coach has the proper training and foresight in helping players realise their potential.”
