League suspends comp

THE Moresby South Rugby League competition is suspended indefinitely pending settlement of player registration fees to the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League.
MSRL deputy chairman Bagelo Solien said they had to take the stand in order to force the clubs to comply.
“We are taking the tough stand now and have warned clubs to comply with the requirements by PNGRFL,” Solien said.
“Because the clubs have been slow to pay their fees we felt we had to take this drastic action and will dissolve the competition for 2018 if we have to.
“We have given the clubs two months to complete their fees and if they can’t do that then they will be kicked out of the competition.
The PNGRFL set May 31 as the deadline for leagues to collect and submit their player and club registration fees.
With the deadline elapsing yesterday, Solien said they would not start the competition unless all the players and officials were fully registered.
“We will not tolerate non-payment of fees. If you don’t pay, you won’t play.”
He said the players and officials registration qualifies them to participate in PNGRFL sanctioned programmes and also to play in the local competitions with insurance cover.
