James Leia attended the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as Papua New Guinea’s young change-maker.
The Young Change-Makers (YCM) programme aims to empower youths for a better society through sports. “There are 82 young change-makers nominated by their national Olympic committees from all over the globe,” Leia said in statement.
“As well as promoting the Youth Olympic Games in their countries, their role is focused on helping athletes get the most out of their experience.
Chef de mission Karo Lelai said the games were a good experience for Leia.
“He doubled as our media attaché and had to balance his YCM role with media and being part of Team PNG,” Lelai said.
“He managed it all very well.”
Leia said he would deliver a project in PNG as part of his role under the programme.
