A MAN after pleading guilty to assaulting his wife and having marijuana in his possession has asked the Lae District Court for leniency.
Sai Nains, 27, from Komba in Kabwum, Morobe, is to be sentenced at a later date for one count of possessing dangerous drug and one count of assault.
He told the court that provocation by his wife led to the assault charge.
Nains told Magistrate James Morog that he did assault his wife, but that came after she was avoiding him when he tried to find her.
“I was looking for my wife the whole night until the next day I located her.
“I was so concerned for the little children that we have and I did what I have done to her,” he said.
The court heard that Nains and his wife were self-employed and made their living in the city doing marketing.
The court heard that Nains, on Oct 30, was alleged that have punched and kicked his wife all over her body.
At the police station, the defendant was searched and found to have in his possession a pack of K1 marijuana roll in his waist bag.
