Happy teachers:
I thank the Central education division (PEB) for releasing next year’s postings on time. Unlike in previous years, teachers of Central province are happy to see where they will teach next year. Teachers’ postings can be a problem in the beginning of the academic year. Some serving teachers are not on the list and the authorities are urged to sort that out.

Telefomin road:
The Government should finance the road from Tabubil to Telefomin and to Oksapmin instead of spending more money on the existing Highlands Highway. The people of Telefomin, in West Sepik, and Faiwol, in Western, have been without a road for donkey’s years, even with Ok Tedi Mine, and now we have Frieda coming up. The people of Telefomin need to see the Tabubil-Telefomin road completed before Frieda goes into construction.

Water problem:
The people of Madang have been having water
cuts for almost a month and Water PNG has done very little to fix the problem. I emailed the Water PNG branch here in Madang and was told they were waiting for spare parts for the pump. Water PNG should at least come up with a solution to help the hundreds of people ithout water. The National should get a story from Water PNG to clarify the issue and let us know when things might improve. A response from the Madang Governor would also be appreciated.

Goroka projects:
I wish to congratulate new MP Henry Ame for delivering impact projects for Goroka district in a short period of time. First is the multi-million kina water project for the entire Goroka district in partnership with the European Union, Oxfam and the Goroka district administration. Then there is the resealing of roads and street lighting in Goroka town. The other project being planned is Goroka town’s new market. Keep up the good work.
