MADANG’s sporting fraternity and residents remain calm during the State of Emergency over the Covid-19 pandemic, says local Conrad Wadunah.
Wadunah, a patron of Madang-based Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League (NSL) club Tusbab Stallions, said the impact of the pandemic was unfortunate but the people’s patience was commendable.
“Due to the coronavirus, all the sporting associations in the province have followed the State of Emergency orders and stopped all their activities,” he said. “It has become a little dull in town, especially during weekends but that is the way it’s going to be for now.
“While we want things to be normal, it will be a new norm for many of us, especially when you know that we will have to implement social distancing in sports somehow.
“It needs all of us to put our heads together.”
Wadunah said it was for every province to keep their sporting activities on hold.
The Stallions, who are in fourth spot on the NSL ladder, have been a standout with the Madang side continuing to groom young talents from the province.
The NSL season, like other competitions in the country, were suspended last month in response to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
