A magistrate has asked a woman charged with misappropriation to comply with police orders and attend interviews as requested by the arresting officer.
Waigani Committal Court magistrate Cosmas Bidar, asked Christina Bip to attend the police interview because it was is part of police investigation to complete the report or findings.
“Firstly, the court has not received any files from police and secondly, a record of interview has not been conducted as yet,” he said.
Bidar asked Bip’s lawyer to make sure that if she was contacted by the arresting officer, she should make herself available for that interview.
The court was informed that Bip, who was charged with three counts of misappropriation some months earlier, refused to attend interviews as requested by the arresting officer.
Police prosecution sought an application from the court to have the matter adjourned to Aug 9 for Bip to go to the regional fraud squad office at Konedobu for interview.
Magistrate Bidar extended the bail and adjourned the case to Aug 9 for possible submissions from Bip’s lawyer, Emmanuel Tandap, from Pacific Horizon Legal services.
“Christina can front up at the National Fraud and Anti-Corruption Directorate Office for police to conduct a record of interview whenever that is required to be done,” he said.
