POLICE have arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl in Manus, commander Chief Insp David Yapu says.
“The grade 5 schoolgirl was returning home after school when the rapist confronted her.
“He forced the girl into a nearby bush and raped her,” he added.
“The girl bled from her private parts and was taken to Lorengau Hospital for medical examination,” he said.
Chief Insp Yapu said last Sunday police received a tip-off from locals in Sapon village where the suspect was sighted.
Policemen rushed to the village and arrested the suspect.
Chief Insp Yapu thanked the villagers for helping the police to nab the suspect.
