Marianville wins maths comp

MARIANVILLE Secondary School, on Wednesday, was announced the winner of the 2010 Institute of Business Studies (IBS) Grade 12 Mathematics competition.
The girls’ school was crowned as the overall best performing school  over 10 other participating schools from the National Capital District and Central.
Marianville Secondary is the first school to be awarded the shield for top performing school in the Grade 12 competition.
The competition was initiated last year for grade 10, but this year the competition included Grade 12.
The Marianville students were praised for their win with speakers challenging girls in high schools and secondary throughout the country to excel in their studies as nothing was impossible if time and effort were put in.
Meanwhile, Port Moresby International School (POMIS) lost the shield it won last year in the Grade 10 challenge.
Laloki High School took out the Grade 10 shield with headmaster Fred Paul receiving the shield from last year’s winner  POMIS during the presentation on Wednesday.
Awards for best performing students went to Pomat Ronald (Grade 12) of Mt Diamond Secondary and Guru Ishan (Grade 10) of POMIS.
