Maseratis debate

Letters

I DO not know what type of executive vehicle is suitable for presidents and prime ministers of the Apec economies.
In the past, Audis and Mercedes were used by many economies.
In my view the selected model should be spacious with high ground clearance and bullet proof.
If the Italian Maserati meets the basic requirements, it is not an issue but the opposition MPs say it is a sports car, so if that is really the case then it demeans any VIP treatment given to visiting leaders.
An event of this nature should have all logistics as classified for security reasons and any purchases will have to be under a Certificate of Inexpediency to avoid the public tendering process.
If the cars are sold at a profit after Apec, it’s all well and good.
But the secret arrangement has now backfired on the government.
