THE long-awaited Port Moresby Soccer Association sevens tournament finals resume at Bisini on the weekend, pending discussions with the PNG Sports Foundation on venue preparations in light of the Covid-19.
President Joseph Ealedona said that following the foundation’s approval of his association’s Covid-19 venue protocols.
The association plans to complete the finals by Aug 2 before kicking off its nines competition.
“It’s been a while since we last kicked a ball at the Bisini Soccer Ground and I know our players are looking forward to this,” Ealedona said in a statement yesterday.
He said a club delegates meeting would place at Bisini from 2pm tomorrow.
Ealedona urged clubs to send two representatives to the meeting to avoid too many people in one area.
He said the nines competition would be played on Sundays to allow people to attend Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League matches on Saturdays.
“While I announce this, we must also be mindful that the Covid-19 pandemic is fluid and anything can happen,” Ealedona said.
“Therefore, we need to continue being compliant with our health and medical protocols.
“The association will await new measures because of an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in the city and abide by the new measures when they are issued.”
