Mumuts defeat Jets 16-12

MOTOR Vehicles Insurance Limited Morata Off-Season Rugby League favourites Mumuts beat 38 Jets 16-12 in round two at the Kone Tigers Oval on Sunday.
Mumuts were given a fright when Jets fought back in the second half but they managed to win.
With Hela Wigmen hooker Dobi Michael at lock, Mumuts went cold in the second half and played ordinary football compared with the first stanza.
In the final 25 minutes, Jets reduced the margin with an unconverted try to Steven Warua to trail 8-12.
But Mumuts replied with an unconverted try to Ipi Ipupu out wide to lead 16-8.
Jets posted another unconverted try to Yamog Andrew but they failed to complete their comeback with time running out.
In the other fixtures, Gateway Sharks beat Guburi Raiders 5-4, Eastern Eels defeated Waga Rats 10-2, Talapia Magpies triumphed over Kongo Rats 20-4, M3 Bulldogs edged Freeway Magani 6-0, KK Vikings drew 4-4 with Top Street Hawks, Northern Warriors shut out Guava Pirates 8-0.
League president Samson Metofa said after round five, the top-12 teams would enter the knockouts.
“We started the competition late so we will have short offseason,” he said.
Metofa said the women’s competition would kick off next week.
He said, two teams had registered with their K100 affiliation fee.
Metofa said another four teams would be included. Both competitions would have short season.
