Naru’s speech not in our people’s interests

I WOULD like to bring to the attention of the Governor of Morobe, Kelly Naru, that his speech in Parliament during the vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Peter O’Neill last Friday does not represent the views of the majority of the people of Morobe.
While the people of Morobe and Papua New Guinea appreciate Naru’s clarification and interpretation of the laws governing the separation of powers between the Executive Government, the Legislature and the Judiciary, his speech basically amounts to supporting corruption and wrong doing by the current O’Neil Government.
Naru’s speech and his subsequent vote against the Opposition’s motion of no confidence is against the will of the people of Morobe.
The governor may have consulted the Morobe PEC and Tutumang and resolved to follow the law and give effect to the will of God, in the no-confidence motion but he must tell the people whether the will of God is supporting corruption and the wrong doings of the current Government.
As a lawyer by profession, Naru knows that while most of the issues raised by our university students, civil society and professionals are before the courts, the Prime Minister’s refusal to turn himself to lawful authorities for interview against corruption allegation is in fact against the laws of our country.
Moreover, Naru knows that while the issues raised are before the courts, the current O’Neil Government continues to make wrong decisions which affect the country’s economy.
The Morobe governor also knows that many health centres and schools in remote parts of Morobe are closed and there is no accommodation for police personnel, no accommodation for school teachers and insufficient classrooms for school children with 70 to 80 students squeezed into one classroom.
These problems are the result of the current Government’s wrong decisions.
For the Moroe governor and MPs who supported the Government, the people will judge you in the 2017 general elections.
