NATIONAL Energy Authority (NEA) can now implement its key policy framework and build its staff capacity from K2 million funding provided by the Department of National Planning and Monitoring yesterday.
The K2 million is from K4 million allocated to the authority in the Government’s 2022 National Budget.
The authority’s managing director Ronald Meketa said: “With the K2 million, we will start working on our key policy frameworks to get the basics right to build our staff’s capacity.
“It’s a new organisation we are not fully functioning well yet.
“With the assistance and support we received from planning, we are also looking forward to support from Treasury, they will also be doing the same with the outstanding commitments that we have which is already in the pipeline.”
National Planning and Monitoring secretary Koney Samuel said it was vital for a new organisation to be well resourced.
There will be a lot of work to be done to establish the authority.
“It is an important organisation in the country that will play a big role in the years to come,” he said.
