THE National Volunteer Service in Maprik, East Sepik, has thanked MP John Simon for giving it K50,000.

Service coordinator Kevin Kaisman  said their head office in Port Moresby was about to withdraw volunteer workers because of lack of funds when Simon stepped in to help.

He said former Maprik MP Gabriel Kapris had also been helping the service.

“I thank Kapris for the initiative that he took in signing the joint programme but the funds were not actually used,” Kaisman said.

“I do not know whether  the officers under his administration took time to look into this programme or not.

“But I would like to thank Kapris for paving the way and special thanks to Simon for honouring and implementing the agreement in time before NVS could withdraw its workers.”

He appealed to other districts to use the NVS.
