Nature Park offers educational programme for schools in NCD

PORT Moresby’s Nature Park recently announced another educational programme for schools in the National Capital District (NCD).
The programme, ‘Wild for Wildlife Themed Week for 2024’, has begun and will last for the next three weeks.
The programme consists of exclusive informative sessions set in the outdoors to give an immersive experience to students.
The students get to learn about Papua New Guinea’s amazing wildlife and the unique features that help them survive in the wild.
Nature Park chairman Lorna McPherson thanked major sponsors ExxonMobil PNG, Sir Brian Bell Foundation, Ela Motors and the National Capital District Commission (NCDC).
“NCDC dedicating two of their 50-seater buses for the programme this year.
“These have assisted with the transportation of students to and from the park,” McPherson said.
According to a statement released, there 11 schools are locked in for the three-week programme which is anticipated to reach almost 6,000 students.
Wardstrip Demonstration Primary School, Kilakila Primary School and Zion Zeal Christian School were the first three schools to take part in this year’s programme. Port Moresby Nature Park, since 2012, has been delivering themed educational programmes, reaching over 26,000 students per year.
Every year, the programmes were redesigned, creating new and exciting lesson plans which students benefit while enjoying the fresh air through outdoor learning opportunities.
The park is opened for excursions and schools can reach out to the park for visits. As the leading conversation and educational institution, Port Moresby Nature Park is dedicated to preserving PNG’s unique biodiversity and cultural heritage.
Through engaging exhibits, educational programmes and community initiatives, the park aims to raise awareness about environmental conservation and inspire a love of nature among visitors of all ages.
