NBC’s huge debt was not unexpected

THE news that NBC is in debt is not surprising.
Some of us had predicted this before it happened.
When the NA-led government was setting up the Kundu2 service, it was obvious the government was going to run NBC into debt.
In an age where privatisation of public sector is the norm, PNG decided to go the opposite way.
A wise government will only set up a new service like Kundu2 only if it can sustain itself.
While free news information is good for a democratic country, it is not good if the government runs up a huge debt having such services.
As PNG already has many news networks, why set up Kundu2 TV?
Let us not go rushing to give money away to those who do not need it as much as we do as we have a lot of broken down departments, damaged road networks and many undeveloped rural areas.
PNG needs a good and wise government.
