AFTER being edged in the 100m final of the West New Britain championships last month, sprinter Leroy Kamau reclaimed the title at the PNG Air National Athletics Championships in Port Moresby on Saturday.
Clocking 10.57 seconds, the 21-year-old — from the Nest Athletics — edged East Sepik rival Emmanuel Anis (10.74s) and Gordon Secondary School’s Danny Guka (10.89s).
Port Moresby-based Kamau told The National on Sunday that he was happy with the result after losing to Anis in Kimbe.
“I took a break from athletics in 2017 due to other commitments,” he said.
“So the championships last month were important for me because I learnt a lot and I got to really see the amount of talent that I was competing with.”
Kamau said he made mistakes in Kimbe and after he returned he corrected them.
