NASFUND Contributors Savings and Loan Society (NCSL) has installed more than 132 out of 200 terminals in 29 outlets in four regions for its members.
This was according to board chairman Ian Tarutia, who said its recently launched debit card could also be accessed on Eftpos terminals and ATMs.
NCSL launched its Eftpos terminal and debit card called Poro in Port Moresby last Friday for its 115,000 members.
“Our debit card will work in the same way as other debit cards except we have our own Eftpos terminals,” Tarutia said.
“In the past few months, our teams have worked hard with merchants and retailers throughout the country and today we have installed 132 out of 200 terminals.
“I want to thank those who have made the launch possible including our staff.
“I also want to thank the Bank of PNG for their foresight in granting approval to NCSL to offer this service to its members and allowing NCSL to be the first savings and loan society to participate in the first phase of REPS will allow interoperability of credit and debit cards between the different payment devices of the participating financial institutions. I urge all the other NCSL members nationwide and non-members alike to complete their transaction account application form and pick their cards to enjoy the benefits of the offering.”
The initial order of around 46,000 embossed Poro cards have been received and these cards will be issued only after NCSL receives the member’s signed transaction account application.
