I AM depressed and outraged to read an article ‘Parkop wants Chinese steel for city’ (The National, April 20).
The article quoted Powes Parkop as saying “I also plan to build a new China Town at Jack Pidik Park to encourage Chinese investors to live and create business activities to grow the economy which is now ready for implementation.”
I have no better words to describe the governor’s plan to build a China Town for Chinese citizens to live and work, when our very own citizens are struggling out there in suburbs and settlements.
To add salt to the wound, our very own SMEs in Port Moresby have been struggling every day to make ends meet due to a harsh and hostile business environment.
If the plan is to go head, then citizens should be given 100 per cent priority to investment in business activities and no Chinese should be allowed.
