TRANS Wonderland (TWL) are the new champions of the Lae corporate business houses lawn bowls.

Played every Monday nights, the competition is into its fourth year and is open to all business houses.

After nine weeks of competition, the final was put into two pools. The top eight played for the cup while the bottom eight played for the plate.

New team TWL faced Team BSP – last year’s runner-up losing to ANZ – in the cup final, and were first to put points on the score card after first two ends to lead with three points. But TWL came back in the third end to equalise.

After the third end, it was anybody’s game as both teams fought neck to neck using their skills to put the bowls near the jack to score points.

By the 11th end the scores were nine all and BSP with their experience took the lead in the next five ends with the score of 15-10 in their favour.

Not to be out done, TWL put their act together, taking points at the 17th  all the way up to 21st end to come out winners to hold off the determined team BSP 17-15.

For the plate final, Niugini Builders did not allow room for newcomers Minespec by nailing them 38-8 to claim the title.

The purpose of the competition was for business houses to network and foster relationships.

This year many business houses wanted to take part but could not because of limited space and the green could only allow for 16 participants, thus, it was a first come first serve basis.
