THE Civil and Identification Registry (CIR) has set a target to print and issue two million NID cards by year’s end.
Planning Minister Richard Maru made the statement during provincial and district registrars’ and management of the CIR 2019 annual work plan workshop in Lae.
Maru said he did now want to know about registrations rather see the delivery of two million cards. According to his calculations, that was 5000 cards a day.
Maru said the Government had allocated K20 million for the NID project, with another K4 million from last year’s outstanding appropriation transferred recently.
“I look forward to seeing that funding being used efficiently,” he said
