FRANCESCA Marenge, the superintendent for corporate services at Papua New Guinea’s Correctional Services headquarters, is a firm believer of self-discipline when executing official duties.
This conviction comes from within for Supt Marenge but was reinforced by her post-graduate qualification on conflict management and resolution, which she attained through Australian awards.
She described self-discipline as a value that promoted cohesion and teamwork.
In her team-mentoring initiatives, she ensured her 10 subordinates understood the importance of self-discipline and responsible conflict resolution. Supt Marenge, one of the few women commissioned officers in the Correctional Services, said there were more collaborative ways of managing conflict.
