THE Port Moresby Men’s Softball Association is heading into its fourth round of the season with attendance picking up.
Last weekend’s round put United Brothers at the top of the competition after they beat Stingerz 10-0 and maintained their perfect start.
Association vice-president Ali Daveona told The National that he was impressed with the progress of the competition and was expecting a better turnout on Sunday.
“I was happy with the turnout last week, considering some teams still have players away on holidays,” he said.
“A big thank you to all the affiliates for restarting the 2020-2021 season on a good note.
“The top-four teams are United Brothers, Brown Eagles, Defence and Gazelle.”
Sunday’s opening match will see Stingerz taking on Eagles (9am), followed by Saints going up against Defence who were on a bye last weekend.
Mariners will be looking at making amends for their loss last week to Pawa as they battle with Kikila Cats who are also planning to rebound from their loss to Gazelle.
Bears will be challenging Pawa who will be looking to pick up from where they left off last week.
The match of the day will be between the top-two teams, United Brothers and Gazelle, with Aviat Jets on a bye.
While last season was interrupted by Covid-19, all teams returned on a stronger foot, aiming to make their mark and end the competition on a high note.
Meanwhile, Daveona acknowledged the sponsors who had come onboard to support the association this season.
He thanked Pacific Industires, Tropic Air and PNG Air for lending them a hand.
