THE annual Prime Minister’s Corporate Golf Challenge to which The National is a sponsor is set for next month in Port Moresby and Lae respectively says, PNG Olympic Committee’s corporate manager Denzil Agi.
Yesterday The National presented over 300 polo T-shirts to PNGOC as part of its support to one of the biggest fundraising event for Team PNG that tees off in Port Moresby on May 10 and in Lae on May 17. With the Paris Olympic Games set for July 26-Aug 11, the event has been brought forward to raise funds for Team PNG athletes that will be competing.
Agi said PNGOC were awaiting Prime Minister James Marape’s confirmation to attend the challenge, however notice for team registrations and other details would be announced in the coming days.
“Our team will send invites out by the end of the week to the corporate houses for the PM’s corporate golf challenge with the flyer and competition notes,” said Agi.
“We had great turnout last year, especially in Port Moresby so we’re looking forward to it.
“We’re grateful to The National for providing the annual sponsorship of T-shirts to be passed out to participants of the golf challenge, both in Port Moresby and Lae.
“We’re thankful for the sponsorship, not only for the shirts but also the (media) coverage leading up to and during the challenge,” she said yesterday.
Last year’s edition of the challenge has seen about K300,000 raised in both the Port Moresby and Lae leg of the corporate golf challenge, with the funds used to support Team PNG’s preparation and participation at the Solomon Islands Pacific Games where PNG finished fifth.
