Online selection confusing

Letters

WE parents and guardians of Grade 12 students who sat for national examinations last year want clarification from Higher Education Research Science and Technology Minister Pila Niningi and his Secretary Fr Jan Czuba on this online selection.
Our children, who have been selected by DHERST through this online selection, have been denied entry by the tertiary institutions which they were selected to.
The tertiary institutions are turning a blind eye on us, saying that they have made their own selections.
Only those students selected by the tertiary institutions were given acceptance letters.
These tertiary institutions have disregarded and dishonored the selection done by DHERST.
They are sending our children away, telling them to go and upgrade their marks and apply as non-school leavers next year.
I read an article on Tuesday in which Fr Jan addressed parents of students attending University of PNG about the matter.
I want to inform Fr Jan that this issue is affecting students and parents across the nation.
We parents of students selected for University of Technology in Lae are facing the same problem.
These institutions have disrespected the authority of DHERST.
We are not seeing the purpose of this online selection.
The amount of money and resources that have been spent to come up with this online system is a big waste.
This online system is becoming a national liability to this nation.
We doubt the efficiency of this system.
We demand an explanation and a step into the doorsteps of the tertiary institutions and see what is going on.
