THE case of a hotel operations manager facing drug-related charges has been adjourned to today to allow the defence lawyer time to respond to the prosecution’s submission.
Sanctuary Hotel operations manager Jamie Pang, 43, of Australia is facing two counts of making and having in his possession a drug namely methamphetamine, under the Dangerous Drug Act 1951.
Defence lawyer Simon Nutley told Boroko District Court Magistrate Garry Unjo that he needed time to look at the submission by the prosecution which was given to him late.
Magistrate Unjo adjourned the case to today.
Police alleged that on Nov 16 at 6.30am Pang was at his residence at Sanctuary Hotel when police and Customs officers conducted a raid using a search warrant.
They met Pang at the hotel car park and served him the search warrant. The officers then searched targeted areas of the hotel, and found a mini-laboratory used to produce methamphetamine.
Pang admitted that the laboratory and everything else there belong to him.
The officers found white substance which was tested at the PNG Customs testing facility and found to be methamphetamine.
Pang was granted a K10,000 bail by the Boroko District Court.
He was fined K130,000 on Friday on 11 separate charges under the Firearms Act.
