Papua New Guineans have interest in Israel: Minister

People from Papua New Guinea have a keen interest in the city of Jerusalem in Israel, according to a church minister.
Rev Seik Pitoi, from the Ela Beach United Church in Port Moresby, said that many tour groups from Papua New Guinea travelled to Jerusalem, and there was a strong connection Papua New Guinea had with this great city.
His comments come after US President Donald Trump last Dec 12 declared that Jerusalem was the capital of Israel and that the United States would move its embassy there.
A vote was taken at the UN to negate the declaration by the US.
Only seven countries stood with the US, and Israel, while 128 opposed – including PNG.
“Jerusalem is important to Christians because of the places where Jesus lived, ministered, died and rose again,” Pitoi said.
Meanwhile, Joseph Aleka from the PNG Bible Church, claimed that PNG’s vote in the UN to oppose US declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was uncalled for.
“Diplomatic apologies to Israel, US and the Christian countries of the world are in order,” he said.
