MORE than 100 early learners from the Motu-Koitabu community in the National Capital District (NCD) will now benefit from a new classroom built at a cost of K100,000.
NCD Governor Powes Parkop, who opened the classroom on May 4, said the classroom was funded under the NCD services improvement funds and more funding would be allocated to develop and establish more early childhood centres around the city.
Parkop said early childhood education was important and it was the way forward to having a positive social outcome that would move the country in the right direction.
He added that the National Capital District Commission (NCDC) had signed two memorandum of understanding with two previous education ministers to take all schools in the city away from the Education Department this had yet to be done however, it would not stop them from pursuing that.
“If we take schools in the city under our care, we can support them and develop them more.”
Deputy NCD Governor and Motu-Koitabu chairman Dadi Toka Jr, support of Parkop’s statement, said: “We will assist governor and NCDC push for the projects to be implemented soon and we will also support the governor’s efforts of taking all schools in the city from the Education Department to upgrade and develop them further,” he said.
Mirigini Mustard Seeds Early Childhood School head teacher Hekure Frank also thanked Parkop for funding a double classroom for the school which he had opened recently.
