PARTNERSHIP is driving the coronavirus emergency response and awareness campaign in Eastern Highlands, an officer says.
The provincial health authority (PHA), PNG Institute of Medical Research (IMR), the provincial administration and interested groups have teamed up and working side by side to advocate Covid-19 prevention.
Speaking during a combined meeting, PHA chief executive officer Dr Joseph Apa said: “We should prepare well in all areas, advocate and execute awareness to effectively educate our people in taking preventative steps against the virus.
“Action speaks louder than words, so we have to act now and educate our people so they can protect themselves from the virus.”
Provincial administrator John Gimisive said working in partnership was the way forward to effectively provide preventative steps against the virus.
“We have seen and heard reports that the virus, a deadly disease, is infecting and killing thousands of people globally,” he said.
“We all should work together to prepare and provide effective preventative steps to avoid infection and becoming victims of the virus.”
Gimisive said the provincial government and administration were committed to working with the EHPHA and partners.
