THE people need to practice their Christian principles and trust in God for peace to return to violence ravaged Sugu Valley in Kagua-Erave, Southern Highlands, says the head of a landowner resource development company.
Mineral Resource Development Company managing director Augustine Mano said people needed to participate in church activities and focus on providing for themselves and their children.
Mano said this during the presentation of two portable sawmills on Saturday.
He said the people needed to complement any assistance given with a spiritual and mental change.
Mano said MRDC also helped 15 students from the community studying in Bible colleges in Western Highlands.
He said after they graduated they could return to their community and help influence people’s lives through church work.
Mano said MRDC would help the people rebuild their lives with the provision of roofing iron and other materials when funds were available.
Southern Highlands Deputy Governor Andrew Kenoa said most of the problems were caused by youths who did not listen to their elders.
He called on youths to be productive and not use violence to solve disputes.
Kenoa said the youths should be given opportunities to develop their potential and not be influenced by negative situations.
