PNG affected by global warming

Letters, Normal

WHY is Papua New Guinea affected by global warming?
To answer that question, we need to go back 20 years.
In 1989, PNG hardly contributed to global warming as the amount of greenhouse gas from fossil fuel it burned was negligible.
But in recent years, because of economic growth, PNG started to use more fossil fuel and the amount of carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide it released also increased.
PNG now contributes 2% of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere every year.
We can see the effects of global warming rapidly changing year by year.
Climate change is a very serious matter and I urge the Government to come up with more awareness campaigns.
