Indonesian police have arrested a Papua New Guinean accused of distributing and selling drugs in Jayapura, Papua, regional police media officer Ahmad Mustafa Kamal says.
The 30-year-old was allegedly caught with 15 plastic bags containing 36 types of marijuana products believed to have been taken across the border by boat.
Police believe he is the main drug dealer who distributes PNG-grown marijuana throughout Jayapura city, and the towns of Abepura, Weina, Kota Raja , Hamadi and Sentani.
Kamal told Papua police media yesterday that they arrested the suspect on Friday at the coastal Engross village in Abepura. The bags containing the marijuana were found buried in the beach. The suspect is being questioned.
Meanwhile, Wutung villagers from PNG visited PNG prisoners in the Doyo Narcotic Prison to celebrate the 43rd independence anniversary.
They had a game of touch and shared food.
