PNG urged to embrace regional connectivity

PAPUA New Guinea should embrace connectivity in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation region and start businesses through digitalisation, a forum was told yesterday.
Apec was all about creating connectivity, said Stan Joyce, the chairman of the micro to small and medium-sized enterprises (MSME) summit committee.
He was speaking at the Apec Business Advisory Council MSME and innovative summit in Port Moresby yesterday.
“The opportunities for PNG to grasp that connectivity and start businesses through the digital phase are immense,” he said.
“This has been proven by other economies. It is really for PNG to learn from those economies and from its own innovations and good ideas. Often the debate on MSME development is very much entry-level – things about education, access to finance.
“In business those things are important. But the great thing about connectivity is that it is not time-bound.
“It is not bound to your access to finance.’
