PNGFA refereeing course proving popular

The Papua New Guinea Football Association’s (PNGFA) basic refereeing course is gaining popularity as it focuses on up-skilling referees.
The interesting part of the programme number of women venturing into refereeing.
Recently, three women in West New Britain completed the course.
Now, 13 women are completing the course in Chimbu.
PNGFA facilitator Jimmy Warai is pleased to see women taking up an interest in refereeing.
Warai said the course covered the rules of soccer, giving participants an insight on how to apply them in games.
Simbu Soccer Association saw a good number of women taking part in the course.
The participants, who came from different LLGs, were eager to learn about refereeing.
“This course beneficial for the association,” Warai said.
“I was very happy to see a good number of women taking the course. This will go a long way for them.
Simbu Soccer Association president Daina Uran thanked Warai for training her referees.
Uran praised the women for taking part in the course to improve their knowledge of the sport.
