FOR a champion club in the country, it is always great to give back to the community.
Toti City FC are doing just that, having started a community programme targeting schools in Lae.
Captain Raymond Gunemba said the idea came about after discussions between the players, coaching staff and management.
With Toti City FC proudly representing Papua New Guinea in the region, the Morobe-based club decided to give back something to the community.
“The team started with Markham Road Primary School,” Gunemba said.
“I am really happy with the programme because we see that it helps the club to impart skills to upcoming players.
“The response from school children is overwhelming.
“We teach the kids basic passing and dribbling skills.”
The team also shared their experiences with students, encouraging them to prioritise education.
The club will visit St Paul Primary School, Lae Christian Academy and the St Mary’s Primary School before they travel to New Zealand for their OFC Champions League quarter final against Team Wellington.
