THE Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) says it is yet to receive an official letter from English second-tier outfit Featherstone on the sacking of former SP Hunters centre Thompson Teteh, pictured.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the 30-year-old had been dismissed for “serious” breach of contract.
“The club will be making no further comment about this incident,” the Rovers said in a statement over the weekend.
It is understood allegations that led to the sacking have surfaced on social media but PNGRFL is remaining tight-lipped about the issue until it receives the letter.
“We don’t know much about the situation. The only reports we know of are from social media and that’s about it,” he said.“We are yet to receive formal advice so we can’t say much until such time.
“We are not in a position to respond until we receive advice from Featherstone, hopefully later during the week.
“If the allegation are indeed true, then Teteh is in the wrong. But at the moment, they are only allegations.
“We don’t know whether Teteh is in the country or still in the United Kingdom.
“But we’ll treat him like any other PNG player.”
PNG Kumuls’ Teteh had stints with the Hunters and Redcliffe in the Queensland Intrust Super Cup before taking up a one-yearl deal with the Rovers in the Betfred Championship.
