WEST New Britain (WNB)’s Kimbe police have arrested three burglars who broke into Pacific Industries in Morokea town on Monday and carted away a safe.
They were spotted by security guards trying to prise open the safe and police rushed to the scene at about 4am. WNB acting commander Insp Daniel Yangen said the trio used a blue Toyota LandCruiser to cart away the safe thinking that it contained a substantial amount of money.
“Instead, it contained only K700 and spare keys,” he added.
Insp Yangen said the burglars were trying to prise open the safe in Kimbe Bay when a security guard spotted them and alerted the police.
“The security guards reported that to Kimbe police and they proceeded to arrest the suspects,” he said. “They arrested three suspects and also the couple of the houses that the men were at when the police arrived.” Insp Yangen said recovered items were now stored in the station as exhibits for the case. “We believe the burglary was also an inside job.”
