POLICE have arrested a 17-year-old suspect for allegedly abducting and raping a minor in an abandoned cemetery in East Sepik’s Angoram station, East Sepik commander Supt Albert Beli says.
“The teenager allegedly abducted the girl from her home when her parents were out on April 21,” he said.
“He took her to the cemetery, forced her to perform oral sex and raped her. However, her screams alerted some people nearby and they quickly went to rescue her.
“But the teenager fled and was later arrested and brought to the Angoram police station.
“I am now advising and warning parents not to leave their children home alone.”
In a separate incident, two policemen from the provincial village court and mediations secretariat were charged with allegedly stealing a cheque written out for K15,800 belonging to a village court magistrate.
The two were accused of picking up that cheque in the Secretariat’s Office in Wewak without the magistrate’s knowledge.
