 POLICE in East New Britain have thanked the people for taking ownership of the local level government elections, making it a successful one.

Provincial police commander Supt Anthony Wagambie Junior said there were no major incidents reported and the election was run smoothly.

He thanked the provincial election steering committee, provincial election manager and Radio East New Britain for keeping everyone informed about the elections.

“The biggest praise is to the people of East New Britain. You have taken ownership of the elections and have made it a success,” he said.

“This is the attitude by the people of this province as they continue to show their civilised approach to elections and their daily activities.

“I urge the people of East New Britain to carry on this good behaviour to keep this province safe.
