POLICE in Morobe are investigating two officers in the Mutzing Police Barracks accused of assaulting the son of another policeman and damaging his house early this month, police say.
According to police reports from the provincial commander Alex N’Drasal, the incident occurred at the Mutzing station in Markham between midnight and 3am.
The officers allegedly under the influence of alcohol punched the son, seriously injuring him and threw stones at the complainant, Const Daniel Aigen, and his house.
Police reported that Aigen, fearing that the two could kill his son, rescued him and took him into the house.
However, the two policemen called Aigen to release his son so they could deal with him.
When the complainant refused to do so, they allegedly stoned and ransacked his house, damaging louvers and walls.
The total cost of the damage was reported to be around K3,000.
Mutzing police confirmed receiving reports of the incident and needed assistance from the provincial police headquarters to investigate the incident.
