Police need to improve in preparing case files

Letters

YET again we read on Wednesday’s The National that a police officer has failed to complete court files relating to a horrific death.
How long are we going to continue reading about cases such as this where court files are not completed by an arresting officer or the officer appointed to work on the files which eventually leads to suspects walking off free?
This sort of delay and asking the court for an extension is sending out wrong signals to the families of the victims.
Are these police officers properly trained to do their work?
I call on the Police Commissioner David Manning, Police Minister Bryan Kramer and Prime Minister James Marape to do something about this.
We cannot allow this sort of delay to continue and frustrate the process of determining if there is evidence for the case to go for a trial.
Find out what’s causing the delays and address it quickly.
We have let too many criminals walk off easily because of this inconvenience.
We cannot continue to have police officers delaying the court process in convicting criminals.
Relatives of victims have been let down for too long.
